Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hussein Bakhy, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ziad Qasim Habib, the staff of the Medical Devices Laboratory organized A scientific visit to the Iraqi Center for Specialized Dialysis.
The staff of the Medical Devices Laboratory, in cooperation with the instructor of the course, Ph.Dr. Alaa Muhammad Dawood, head of the BioMedical Instrumentations Department,, organized a scientific visit to the Iraqi Specialized Center for Industrial College / Medical City Department.
A scientific visit to the Iraqi Specialized Center for Industrial College / Medicine City Department, for the students of the third stage – Medical Devices Department – for the morning and evening studies.
The delegation was warmly received by the hospital director, Dr. Adnan Abdul-Azim, who expressed his happiness for this scientific initiative, stressing the importance of building bridges of cooperation between universities and specialized medical centers to enhance the practical side of education. The hospital’s engineering and operational staff showed high cooperation, as they dealt with the students in a scientific and professional spirit, and provided a detailed and practical explanation of the work systems inside the dialysis unit.
The visit centered on the technical and engineering aspect of dialysis machines, where the engineering staff reviewed the work mechanism of the machines from the perspective of medical device engineering, highlighting the most important technical specifications required, potential malfunctions that the machines may face, in addition to periodic maintenance methods, and how to diagnose malfunctions using modern tools and methods.
This visit provided the students with a rare opportunity to learn about the applications of their specialization directly, linking the theoretical aspects taught at the college with the practical reality within specialized health institutions, thus enhancing their efficiency and better preparing them for the labor market.
After the visit, the college delegation extended its thanks and appreciation to the hospital administration and the technical and engineering staff for the warm reception and scientific cooperation, stressing the importance of continuing such activities that support the educational process and link it to practical application.
