
A specialized scientific visit for the students to Ibn Al-Qaff Hospital for the treatment of spinal cord injuries

Based on the importance of the practical and applied aspects in enhancing students’ scientific process, the College of Biomedical Engineering, under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hussein Bakhy, held a specialized scientific visit for the students of the third stage of the Biomechanics Department to Ibn Al-Qaff Hospital for the treatment of spinal cord injuries.
The visit aimed to familiarize the students with the applications of biomaterials and biomechanics in the medical field and how to use them in rehabilitation and treatment.
The scientific visit was supervised by Prof.Dr. Jenan Sattar Khashan and Dr. Ali Amer, teachers of biomaterials and biomechanics, were accompanied by the staff of the biomaterials and biomechanics laboratories.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the rehabilitation and physiotherapy methods provided for different cases, in addition to visiting the dental department designed to suit the health needs of the injured, as well as the radiology department and laboratories.
The scientific visit concluded with a joint lecture delivered by the supervising faculty and a number of hospital staff, during which they discussed the students’ remarks and answered their inquiries, in addition to directing them towards the importance of employing graduation projects to serve this important segment of the injured, in line with the objectives of the college of Biomedical Engineering in serving the community.
