Specialized workshops in the Biomedical Engineering Department on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the founding of the University of Technology

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the establishment of the University of Technology, the Biomedical Engineering Department held its second specialized workshop under the patronage of the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hussein Bakhy.

The workshops were organized with the participation of a group of the department’s academic staff. The events began with an introductory lecture on the medical devices laboratory presented by Ms. Saja Bashir Atallah. It highlighted the importance of medical devices in the health sector, and the role of the life medicine engineer in developing and maintaining them to improve the quality of health care.

This was followed by a valuable lecture by Engineer Bilal Samir Rashid on ventilator technologies. The lecture included an explanation of these devices’ mechanism of action and the most recent developments in them, as well as their vital role in preserving the lives of patients, especially in critical cases.

The workshops concluded with a joint lecture delivered by senior engineer Asmaa Salim Zamel and engineer Noor Saad Mahmoud on cybersecurity and its importance in the medical and healthcare sector. The lecture focused on defining cybersecurity and raising awareness of the need to protect personal and university accounts from hacks, emphasizing the importance of not accessing untrusted sites and the importance of preserving hospital data and personal patient information from leakage or manipulation.
The workshops were characterized by fruitful interaction from the attendees, and emphasized the high scientific and practical level enjoyed by the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Technological University.
